November 11, 2024 – Are You a Goal Setter?
2 Timothy 4:7-8
Sermon: 2195 Five Principles of Prosperity, Part 1

Pray Over This

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.”
2 Timothy 4:7-8

Ponder This

Most folks could not write down what they intend to do, what they want to do, what they feel God has called them to do. Most people give a general answer to that question.

If I decided to golf against the best golfer in the world, it would be pretty hard to win by the regular rules of the game, but I can beat him if I set the conditions. First, I’d blindfold him, and then I’d turn him around about fifteen times and ask him to keep the blindfold on—then I could beat him. I could beat him because he wouldn’t even know which way the hole is, you see. Even the best golfer, when blindfolded, won’t make the shot because he can’t see the goal. How are you even going to succeed if you don’t even have a goal?

I want to ask you three questions about what you’re doing right now. If you get to where you’re going, where will you be? Everybody is headed somewhere. I’m not just talking about Heaven or Hell but in this life. Then, if you accomplish your goals, what will you have? Finally, are the things you are living for worth Jesus dying for?

  • What are some goals that you had that amounted to nothing?
  • What goal would have eternal value?

Practice This

Share your goals with a friend and consider how you can encourage each other in pursuing your God-honoring goals.
