What about the phony Christians out there?

For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.
One of the more common excuses I hear from people on why they don’t attend church is, “Well, there are too many hypocrites in the church. Look at all those pastors who fall into sin. I’m fed up with it!”
Now, one thing I ask these people is, “When you get sick, do you go to the doctor even though some doctors are bad? And if you have a legal problem, do you go to a lawyer even though some lawyers may not be on the up and up?”
Many Christians, even pastors, have fallen into egregious sin, and I grieve for them. Yet there are many, many more who truly have a heart for reaching the lost with the love of Christ. We can’t base our judgment on the entire body of Christ based upon the actions of a few who’ve chosen to live in a way that’s not congruent with the teachings of the Bible.
When we stand before God on the Day of Judgment, we won’t be able to say, “God, I didn’t fellowship with the body of Christ because there are a few phonies out there.” Don’t let the exceptions keep you from fellowshipping and encouraging one another in Christ. Connect with a body of believers and grow together in your faith!
