How To Shift Your Focus From Division to Unity
For it has been reported to me by Chloe's people that there is quarreling among you, my brothers. What I mean is that each one of you says, “I follow Paul,” or “I follow Apollos,” or “I follow Cephas,” or “I follow Christ.” Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?
As I look at the state of Christianity today, I see more and more people becoming tired of all the labels and denominational tags. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m grateful to be a part of my denomination. But I don’t ever want to let my loyalty to an organization trump my love for all people who share my faith.
Now there was a time in my younger years when I was very harsh against people who didn’t believe just as I do. They had different ideas on the Second Coming or the Holy Spirit, and I judged them unfairly because of it.
But as I’ve gotten older, I’ve mellowed out when it comes to those divisive issues. Yes, I still stand for what I believe is true. But I don’t exclude believers of other stripes who might disagree with me. I’ll worship and fellowship with them just as I would someone who agreed with me 100%!
As believers, let us never allow secondary issues to disrupt our primary focus: unity under the Lord Jesus Christ. May He remain the true focus of our lives and the One who makes us one people under His saving grace!
FELLOWSHIP WITH BELIEVERS OF ALL STRIPES AND KEEP JESUS THE FOCUS AS HE HOLDS TOGETHER THE MULTI-FACETED BODY OF CHRIST!
